Positive Experiences
Overwhelmingly positive patient reviews
Ovo has one of the best patient experiences in the Twin Cities. Their ratio of 5 star to 4 star reviews is 200 : 1 implying an excellent experience for patients. Ovo has had a large increase in reviews on Google Maps relative to other providers. It's possible they are seeing more patients than other facilities, or perhaps they are better at encouraging patients to leave a review.

I had such a great experience at OVO. From the initial exam to see if I qualified, leading up to the day of the procedure, and then afterwards. Everyone at OVO was incredibly smart, answered all of my questions, and also calmed any nerves I had about Lasik in general. Special shout out to Bridget, Elizabeth, Kendall and Dr Whiting who took care of me each step of the way. Cannot recommend OVO enough! I'm typing this with better than 20/20 vision just 3 days after my procedure! And if you're nervous about cost, do what I did and do their 24 month financing!
From my very first visit, I felt truly cared for. The receptionists, doctors, and the entire team were incredibly kind, supportive, and attentive every step of the way. They always made my health and comfort their top priority, which gave me complete peace of mind throughout the entire process. The level of professionalism was outstanding, and the results have been absolutely life-changing. From the very first days, my vision was better than I ever imagined. I am beyond grateful for the care and service I received and can honestly say they are the best of the best. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
From the beginning to now (Day 1 post op) OVO has been great and I know they will continue to be great! From the staff to Dr Lobanoff my experience has been great! The thoroughness of all tests to check your eyes was extensive, which is great! We only have one set of eyes and I’m glad with the care they provided me. I’m currently 20/15 day 1 post op and know it’s only going to continue to improve (I did a ton of my own research before my decision). Now I ask myself why did I wait so long! Great feeling to donate 6 sets of glasses! I Will definitely recommend OVO to others I know.
I had an excellent experience with Ovo LASIK and Dr. Lobanoff. From the very first consultation through follow-up care, every single person I interacted with was genuinely kind, upbeat, and professional. The entire team clearly enjoys what they do, and it shows. Dr. Lobanoff is incredibly knowledgeable and calm, and he took the time to explain everything in a way that immediately put me at ease. I was definitely more nervous than I needed to be, but the team went out of their way to make sure I felt comfortable and supported the whole time. The procedure itself was shockingly fast and smooth. I couldn’t believe how efficient and well-organized everything was. The facility is beautiful, modern, and equipped with top-of-the-line technology. It’s also very easy to find and in a great location. If you’re traveling from out of town, the discounted hotel option next door is a huge bonus and makes the whole experience even easier. On top of all that, the pricing is extremely competitive—and the price-match guarantee is real. If you’re even considering LASIK, I can’t recommend Ovo LASIK and Dr. Lobanoff highly enough.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience with Ovo! The location is state of the art beautiful and clean. Every single staff member was friendly and knowledgeable. And on procedure day Jesse took phenomenal care of me ensuring I was comfortable through out the entire process. I highly recommend Ovo!
Incidents
Reviews imply Ovo acknowledged incidents since they offered free touch-ups in multiple cases
Reviews stated Ovo offered free touch-ups
Could not find any reviews discussing 3rd party referrals or support
There are very few incident reviews on Google Maps, so I read through all of them. Most of the 1 star reviews are complaining about a different facility and aren't relevant to a new patient, but there are enough incident reviews to score Ovo on incident criteria.
TreatScore Methodology
TreatScore tries to objectively rate providers using publicly available data. TreatCost's commentary should not affect TreatScore.
Positive Experience Weight: 85%
In a study finished in 2011, 95% of patients were satisfied their LASIK eye surgery. We want to reflect this in our scoring.
New technology like Contoura / Wavefront, ICL, and other types of vision correction surgery may result in even higher positive outcome rates. Given this and the large number of online reviews of LASIK available, we feel star ratings and comments from consumer review sites like Google Maps are the best representation of LASIK quality when surgery is successful. For centers which only perform LASIK and related surgeries, we use every rating in the score. For locations which perform more types of ophthalmic surgery and other types of vision appointments, we consider both their overall rating (50%) and the rating for patients who mention LASIK, PRK, or a related surgery in their review (50%).
Incident Management Weight: 15%
Although only a small fraction of patients have negative outcomes from LASIK, the disproportionate effects from a failed surgery mean we give them a disproportionately higher weight.
Our goal is to convey how well (or poorly) your case would be handled if your surgery failed. To that end, our Incident ratings are calculated from 3 equally weighed elements:
- Incident acknowledgement: Whether the provider acknowledges incidents
- Second surgery offer: Whether the provider tries to fix failed surgeries for patients at no cost to the patient
- 3rd party offer: Whether the provider refers patients to a 3rd party for a surgical or other fix at no cost to the patient
Why do we use these criteria?
- Incident acknowledgement: To receive remediative care patients must know such care is available. If a provider acknowledges an incident early, that can help patients
- Second surgery offer: We have reviewed hundreds of LASIK reviews, and in many cases providers offer to fix failed surgeries with a subsequent surgery. Because many providers offer this service, we assume it is effective and we include it in our Incident Management review. If the provider refers all patients to a 3rd party at no cost to the patient then they get a perfect score
- 3rd party offer: In reviewing dozens of patient incident stories, we found many patients refused to allow their original surgeon to operate on them again for fear of a second failure. For these patients, we know they often seek a 3rd party service to help them, and in TreatCost's opinion the original provider should pay for that service
These criteria are not comprehensive. TreatScore includes multiple data sources, but we do not always include every piece of information in our score. TreatScore is intended to be a starting point to help patients understand the experiences of other patients, so all calculations are based on patient reviews and patient incident reports. If you are a provider and want to improve your score, we recommend asking patients who experience an incident to post their experience online and then send TreatCost.com a link to this content via our Feedback Form.
